A religious scholar who has thoroughly explored the teachings of the Old Testament, Avraham Gileadi will be at Pioneer Book on Saturday, May 12 at 2:00 to sign copies of his books.

Born in the Netherlands, Gileadi moved to New Zealand after WWII, and then to Israel, where he conducted in-depth studies of the books of the Bible - particularly focusing on Isaiah. While in Israel, Gileadi was introduced to the Mormon church, which he eventually became a member of.

Gileadi received his B.A., M.A., and Ph.D. from Brigham Young University. During his doctoral studies, he also taught Hebrew, Philosophy and Religion classes. Being fluent in Hebrew, he worked with the Hebrew Masoretic Text, the Dead Sea Scroll of Isaiah and Septuagint Version, to provide a translation of the book of Isaiah into intelligible English that remained true to the original Hebrew.* He also wrote several books interpreting the book of Isaiah.

Out of print for years, Gileadi's fascinating and well-researched book, "The Literary Message of Isaiah" will be available for purchase in its newly printed second edition. We will also have a selection of his other books - some out of print, and some not, to purchase and have signed by this renowned Isaiah scholar.
